After the entire procedure is completed, a cold compress and lubricating ointment is applied, and in several instances, the patient’s eyes may be loosely covered with gauze.

The patient must listen carefully to the surgeon’s instructions regarding the appropriate care of the eyes, drugs to apply or intake orally to speed up the healing process and decrease the possibility of any infection and when to follow-up with the doctor.

During the recovery time, the patient will experience bruising, swelling, dry eyes and discomfort that can be managed with medication, ointment and cold compress. Irritation at the incision areas is possible as well.
